DISSOLVE

This photography project explores the magic and deception of the lens without any digital manipulation, embracing the concept of painting with the camera. By using aloe vera on a plastic screen, I manipulate light, texture, and translucency to create a dreamlike, organic distortion. This technique blurs the boundaries between photography and painting, challenging the viewer’s perception of reality and abstraction. The interaction between the material, the model, and the lens produces unpredictable, fluid compositions that evoke a sense of mystery and transformation. Inspired by the tactile nature of traditional art-making, this work highlights the physicality of photography as a medium beyond mere documentation. Model: Ivy Pavlovsky.
